Peter says DPP most feared party in Malawi

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Peter Mutharika has said that governing Peoples Party  (PP)  is losing sleep and scared of looming defeat ahead of the 2014 elections.

Mutharika said PP led government is always arresting DPP officials with the aim of frustrating them because they are scared of the party.

“Every day we are hearing of party followers arrested but we know that they are doing this deliberately because they are afraid of us. Why only targeting DPP, we are not the only party in the country, they don’t talk of UDF or MCP,” said Mutharika at the party‘s regional headquarters in Lilongwe on Thursday after welcoming 22 defectors from PP.

He added “PP is always against the Mutharika family, they want to take our houses, cars and our money, and we will tear them into peaces (tianyenya amenewo) in 2014.

Speaking at the same function, DPP Secretary General Dr Jean Kalilani also said the party is delighted that more people are joining it.

“We are all happy that more people are joining us, every day more people are willing to join us,” said Kalilani.

During the ceremony DPP welcomed Alick Sakala, Lyod Issa who was PP regional treasure for the centre including Frazer Chulu who announced his defection last week among others.
