PICT0426Malawi Congress Party leader John Tembo on Sunday tore apart the task force that is advocating for the change of the party leadership accusing it of being used by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) disclosed that he will hand over to a new leader.

When addressing his first ever rally after the May 19 polls, the visibly strong and composed Tembo, 77 said MCP cannot be destroyed by the agenda of task force.

Tembo also accused President Bingu wa Mutharika’s government of disrespecting the rule of the law by flouting by voting of Abel Kayembe as leader of opposition in parliament.

“I am old, wise and calm person I waited for everyone to do what they liked. Those who wished to insult me they have done so until they got tired. But I will not watch at people who have been hired to destroy the party, no,” said Tembo amid ululation from the party followers clad in MCP traditional colours.

Tembo has challenged the ‘task force’ that MCP has an a budding leader that shall be endorsed during the party convention and therefore asked the members not to waste time with the disgruntled task force members who  he claimed  want to enrich themselves with DPP money.

“MCP for sure has a leader who is building his name and shall be disclosed at the party convention. Those who are in the task force are just wasting their time for nothing,” challenged Tembo.

The MCP leader also challenged the electoral commission for a physical vote count for the May 19 presidential elections.

“MCP members keep on asking me where their votes went to, so the results of my findings are ready but before making them known I would ask the electoral body to count the presidential votes one by one” said Tembo.

He also confirmed the firing of some party members namely the newly elected leader of opposition, treasurer George Zulu and deputy secretary general Beston Majoni.

“I hear that the task force is being chaired by Majoni, how can a person who failed primaries in his own area for three times lead well intended group?” queered Tembo.

He also challenged Mutharika to explain to Malawians the reason behind the fuel and shortage and the progress of the subsidized fertilizer coupons which he said has driven the country into a crisis.

Thirteen members of parliament some of which include Joseph Njovuyalema, Jean Sendeza, Joyce Aziz Banda and Dzole Mwale attended the meeting.
