Polytechnic Catholic Students Choir launches DVD Sunday

All is set for the launch of Polytechnic Catholic Students Choir’s first ever DVD Tipembedze Mulungu this Sunday afternoon at St Pius Catholic Church hall in Blantyre.

The choir’s coordinator, Trevoir Dambe, told Nyasa Times in an interview they were geared up to mesmerize Blantyre gospel music goers with a rewarding performance.

“We are set for our long awaited launch of the DVD. We have been working on perfecting it since October 2012 and we believe come Sunday Malawians will be the best judges of the production,” said Dambe.

Recorded at Divine Mercy Studios in Blantyre, the coordinator said the Tipembedze Mulungu production centres on reaching out to the lost souls and enhancing their spiritual life.

The 36-member (21 girls and 15 boys) Polytechnic Catholic Students Choir released the songs in 2006 with the launch of a CD taking place the following year but could not produce a DVD due to financial resources.

“After producing the CD in 2006 the choir’s wish was to immediately follow up with a DVD production but due to lack of resources we could not do so. So we thought of holding fundraising activities as well as knocking on well-wishers’ doors to support us produce a DVD hence the production we will be launching on Sunday,” he explained.

The coordinator said the 10 songs were composed by Mac Luckson, Lloyd Chimwaza and Martin Ephrem.

The choir first came to the limelight after releasing its Imvani Lamulo CD in early 2000.

“We are calling on all gospel music lovers in Blantyre to come in their large numbers to sample what the Catholic students from the Polytechnic have produced. They will not regret their time at St Pius Church hall,” he challenged.

Charges are K500 for adults while all under-12s will pay K250 as entrance fee.
