PP Governor in court over extramarital affair

The ruling Peoples Party (PP) District Governor for Mangochi/Namwela, Lucius Nakwanje has been dragged to court for having extramarital affair with a married woman, Nyasa Times has established.

Nakwanje appeared before Mangochi First Grade Magistrates Court on Wednesday following a lawsuit by Brown Nsanjama who is accusing the politician of having an affair with his wife, Martha Banda.

Currently Nsanjama 25, electrician by profession, is processing a divorce from Banda 18 years-old with whom he sired one child.

Nyasa Times has established that Nakwanje, a Parliamentary aspirant, has been secretly dating Banda for several months before being caught red-handed on the night of November 18th, forcing Nsanjama to file for a lawsuit, accusing him of affecting his two-year marriage.

Msosa: The PP vehicle is on the road

But in a twist turn of events, Nakwanje, despite confessing to Namwela police of the affair, framed Nsanjama and other PP officials of burning down his official car.

Nsanjama and PP’s Organizing Secretary, Hassan Hussein Matondolo confirmed in separate interviews that they were arrested and currently on bail in relation to the alleged car torching incident, which Nyasa Times has established to be fictitious.

PP Provincial Chairperson (Eastern region), Samson Msosa confirmed to Nyasa Times that the said car was still intact and being used for party errands in the region.

“No car was burnt down, and as matter of fact we used the same car this weekend on some of party activities. So I don’t know why such stories are being brought up. I could have known if there was such incident,” Msosa said.

In an interview, Nakwanje feign ignorance of his affair with Banda but confirmed to have reported Nsanjama to police for allegedly torching his official car.

But when quizzed about the false car-torching incident, Nakwanje altered his earlier statement, arguing “I don’t know if it was burnt down and who did it. The police are investigating the matter. What I know is that there was a plan that it should be burnt”.

He added: “I don’t know any woman by that name and I don’t know Mr. Nsanjama. I don’t know anything about that issue”.

Nsanjama in an interview accused Nakwanje-married-of affecting his marriage, arguing he was using his political status to be having extramarital relationship with his wife.

He revealed that Nakwanje once tried to bribe him to suppress the issue, he managed to catch the two following a tip-off.

“On this day (November 18th) I was tipped thath he was having good time with my wife at Tujimuche Teachers Training College. I decided to follow them and I was able to ambush them on their way in his PP vehicle. My wife tried to disguised herself as someone else, but it didn’t work. I took them to Nselema police after arguing for sometime, and that’s where they both confessed to have been seeing each other for months now”.

Nsanjama added: “He offered me K16,000 so that I should not tell anyone about the issue and I shouldn’t push it further, but this is my wife he has been dating. And I am now currently in fear of my life for I don’t know if am safe or not. I don’t if they were having protected sex or not”.

Nsanjama said his life was currently in danger following threats from Nakwanje, saying “My life is not safe right now. If he was able to frame me on something I didn’t do; he is capable of doing more harm than that”.

He said was forced to take up the matter with Mangochi First Grade Magistrates Court after his lawsuit was rejected by a court in Nselema for undisclosed reasons.
