PP moves to Blantyre City boss house

Peoples Party has changed offices from Manase to Blantyre City council’s house located in Sunny Side and meant for the chief executive officer.

As moving in circles, the same house was also used by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) when it was in government and accumulated high bills meant for the city council which till now have not been settled.

PP moved to the new building over the weekend according to officials and members of the party who went to the new office for party work.

“Yes we have moved to the new place which was once used by the DPP. The house belongs to the Blantyre City Council and is meant for the chief executive officer,” an official from PP said.

Several party members who went to the new office this week said the party business is now handled from the premises.

“I am coming from the new office at Sunny Side. I went to lodge a complaint to the secretary general about disputed primaries elections results in my constituency,”  one MP aspirant said on Tuesday.

Acting secretary general of the party Paul Maulidi confirmed the change of offices but gave no reason.

Blantyre city council insiders complained that the city house has now been turned into a political party property.

“The house is supposed to be used by the chief executive officer but he since he came to the city council he has let it out to political parties. DPP used it as its regional office for the south. Now it is the PP headquarters. The normal thing is that the occupants should pay rentals to the city but they do not in practice,” the official said.
