Prema laid to rest after car crash: Miss Malawi Ireland finalist

Former Miss Malawi Ireland contestant Prema Tewesa who died in a road accident on Saturday morning was laid to rest Sunday at HHI Cemetery in Blantyre.

The funeral ceremony saw devastated family, thousands of people who included friends, former schoolmates and relatives mourning her tragic death.

Mourners heard how Prema, 21, who was studying business management in Dublin in Ireland ‘always had a smile on her face’

The deceased’s father, former football administrator Billy Tewesa, said tearfully that Prema’s death was “a big shock” to the family, saying she was “young and with potential for more success in her life.”

Prema who earlier studied journalism at the Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ) was in Malawi for the festive holidays and to celebrate her 21st birthday. She was expected to return to Ireland to finish her studies.

She was among the contestants in the inaugural Miss Malawi Ireland two years ago at the Clarion Hotel in the Irish capital city, Dublin.

Prema came from T/A Kalen in Blantyre.

Her death was painful to swallow but it was a time to pray to the Lord and ask for help and an explanation, and maybe there was nothing wrong with getting angry.
