Prophet Bushiri unfazed with smear campaign: Nothing but ‘gutter politics’ in Malawi
Officials at the South Africa-based Malawian prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) have said the ‘Major 1’ is unshaken despite being the victim of a smear campaign that includes false reports that he was arrested in United States.
Malawi’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party ( DPP) through their online mouthpiece Malawi Voice reported that the billionaire Man of God , was on Friday arrested at the John F. Kennedy Airport on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The cooked up story claimed Bushiri was released on a $100, 000 bail after a 10kg of cocaine which according to the DPP mouthpiece is valued at $1.5 million, found on the baggage carousel.
But ECG officials say the fabrications displays the level of gutter politics that Satan’s agents would go to, especially against a Man of God.
“It’s not true,” said Nicholas Muluzi, Project Manager for Shepherd Bushiri Investment who accompanied ‘Major 1’ on a trip to the US.
“You can check with US police or John F. Kennedy Airport,” he said.
When Nyasa Times contacted John F. Kennedy Airport, they dismissed the report as false.
ECG church officials say its high time haters of the Prphet should “grow up.”
Bushiri, who describes himself as a trailblazing African Theologian, has meanwhile refused to dignify false claims against him with his comment but alot of people took to Facebook to trash the false report.
“I may not like Bushiri as a prophet but I would not cook unfounded stories like this. Without doubt I like him as an entrepreneur but this is a cheap [propaganda],” one Facebook user posted.
Meanwhile, at the Pretoria showgrounds where ECH house Bushiri’s regular sermons (Friday and Sundays) hundreds of thousands of congregants gather each week. They fill up a number of halls, each decked with large screen TVs.
In his sermon on Sunday, monitored on Prophetic Channel, Bushiri urged Christians to be “clothed with the Holy Ghost” reading from the Holy Bible in Acts 1:8.
“The moment you were born again, you were born into the spirit of Gof. The only problem now is this, many are born again but they are not spirit filled. You need to be baptised in the Holy Ghost in order for the Spirit of God to bring about tangible results in your life,” he said.
During the service, a woman who could not walk for four years received her total healing.
Bushiri has been a victim of DPP smear campaign as the ruling partyis running scared that the man of God was doing his charity work in the country in a bid to challenge President Peter Mutharika in 2019 presidential elections.

He did not condemn the people who praised him instead of God. Peter and Saul in their time condemned those who took them as supernaturals. I may not like what Bushiri does as a man og God but I strongly desire him as a business man.He has inspired alot of people and he is still inspiring many africans to venture into businesses without any fear
