DJ Agnes will be returning to the US a happy person after an eventful three months during which she was involved in charity work.

Agnes, who is a daughter to legendary musician the late Bright Nkhata, will hold a farewell cocktail dubbed “Cocktail 4 A Cause” that will take place at Latitude 13 in Lilongwe on Saturday.

“It has been an eventful three months but I am glad that I have achieved what I came here for. The support that I received from Malawians was impressive and I am confident that together we can contribute to education of girls in Malawi,” she said.

The cocktail, to be hosted by Times TV’s Mr.265, is aimed at fundraising for Timalechi Nursery School of Mzimba. The school was founded by her grandfather Winston ‘Timalechi’ Zimba, in 1997 and she adopted it in 2013.

DJ Flexor, who is Queen Agnes’s manager, said he was happy that a lot of people were willing to assist after appreciating what the lady DJ is doing.

“I believe artists can contribute to the development of the country through such initiatives. Certainly Queen Agnes has set a good example and it is worth emulating by the artists in Malawi. It should be everyone’s responsibility to help the underprivileged,” he said.

DJ Flexor said Mixmasters Entertainment is calling upon well wishers to support Queen Agnes during the cocktail on Saturday.

According to the statement released on Wednesday, the school is facing a lot of challenges and the immediate need is to raise money for teachers’ salaries. The cocktail on Saturday is targeting to raise K1million.

During the cocktail, there will be music performances by Hazel Mak, Bizzy B, DJ Nathan Tunes & VJ Ice. There will also be a fashion display by Kwacha Creations.

There will also be a raffle draw and the prizes include cocktail gift basket and a tablet.

The dress code for the cocktail is all white.
