The veteran gospel musician disclosed in an interview on Thursday that he is not the one who came up with this idea, but the majority of people from Mzimba Solola constituency who approached him and requested him to stand in the 2014 elections.

”People from the constituency are saying they need someone trustworthy, young and energetic to be their next representative in the august House,” Mhango said.

He added people from Mzimba Solola Constituency say they are tired of living in a non-developed constituency, as previous MPs have not helped them and that is why they need change.

The renowned gospel musician went ahead to say since he was requested to contest, he has been praying about it so that God should give him direction on whether to go ahead or not.

”I am considering joining politics because my heart tells me so but what is remaining now is an endorsement from God, If God says yes I will come forward and let the country know, likewise if God says no,” said the popular musician.

When asked on whether he will still remain a pastor after joining politics, Mhango said he will not cease to be a pastor for the rest of his life.

Mhango also said he does not think politics will take him away from the face of God saying politics is just a good game but it is people who make it dirty.

”We are the light of the world and we have to shine where we are supposed to, so once I become an MP, I will also strive to develop my people spiritually,” said the hopeful Mhango.

The Synod of Livingstonia’s heavy weight also added he is currently undecided on which party to join but as time goes he will do so upon people’s advice.

Apart from Mhango other reverends who are in politics are Rev. Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, who is MP for Mzimba Hora and Rev. Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of Assemblies of God who wants to contest for the post of MCP’s President.
