Rev Chinkhwezule elected new moderator of CCAP Blantyre Synod

The Blantyre Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP)  has elected top synod officials with Reverend Rapson Chikwenzule becoming the new Moderator taking over from Reverend Mercy Chilaula.

Chikwenzule effectively becomes the new spiritual leader of the Blantyre Synod .

He was elected on Monday during the polls held  at St Michaels and All Angels Multipurpose Hall . During the elections Rev. Chimkwezule got 285 votes against Rev. Kutani’s 81.

Reverend Edna Navaya is the new vice moderator replacing Rev. Andrew Kamponda.

Reverend Moyenda Kanjerwa is the deputy general secretary who defeated former religious advisor to late president Bingu wa Mutharika,  Reverend Billy Gama. He replaced Rev. Cliff Nyekanyeka.

Reverend Alex Maulana remains the secretary-general, the Chief Executive Officer  who run the Synod.

His position was not contested for as it is still within its mandated tenure.

Rev Chimwemwe Mgango who was the returning officer and declared the elections as fair and credible.

In his acceptance speech, Rev. Chimkwezule said his main focus would be to develop the church in terms of wooing new membership  in both rural and urban areas.
