Senior Chief Lukwa weds again
Congratulations to Senior Chief Lukwa of the central tobacco-growing district of Kasungu who once again walked down the aisle on Saturday.
Lukwa tied the knot with youthful Mercy Shawa (34) at a colourful wedding officiated at Kasungu Baptist Church.
The chief whose real name is Felix Mphunda Banda has been without a wife for five years following death of his first wife in 2007.
Thousands of chewa people from across the country including those from neighboring Zambia thronged the Chief’s Chidzenje Headquarters later in the afternoon for a reception that was also graced by Chewa Heritage Foundation Chairman and former Vice President Dr Justin Malewezi, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Chris Daza, former presidential aide Cecelia Tamanda Kadzamira, cabinet ministers and chiefs.
Born on April 22 1952 Lukwa, a retired soldier, was installed Senior Chief on 15th October, 1997 by former President Bakili Muluzi.
