Seodi backs Mutharika to be JB’s main challenger in Malawi presidency

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP presidential candidate Peter Mutharika is the main challenger to President Joyce Banda in May 20 presidential race according to an opinion by gender activist Seodi White.

White,  a bitter critic of President Banda and a close ally of Mutharika, told  Zodiak Broadcasting Station the the competition for the country’s presidency is between Mutharika’s party  and Banda;s ruling s People’s Party (PP).

She fell short of saying Mutharika will even win the elections against Banda and that  Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Democratic Front (UDF cannot win the country’s presidency in the forthcoming May 20 Tripartite Elections.

“The competition in the coming elections is between PP and DPP,” White said on the radio.

“The president for the country will come from one of these two parties (PP or DPP). MCP and UDF cannot win the presidency. They will just win some parliamentary seats, not the presidency,” she said in her opinion.

MCP spokesperson Jessie Kabwila described White as misguided on her opinion while UDF’s Ken Ndanga said the activist’s opinion lacks scientific backing.
