Celebrated jazz artist Wambali Mkandawire will grace the event where his fans look forward to reuniting with the music legend who last made a public appearance at the same venue last year.

Sangwani and his band have been preparing for the double launch since March. He said in an interview he was ready for the showdown tonight and the other shows in Blantyre tomorrow and Mzuzu on 4 June.

He stated: “It has been a lot of work rehearsing with the band. We have been together for two months preparing for this moment and everyone is ready. I’m confident it will be a remarkable delivery.”

“Ndipulumutseni” is Sangwani Munthali’s third album after “Mahomwagha Fumu” and “Themba”.

The new album was recorded in Namibia with professionals from Zimbabwe, Namibia and Democratic Republic of Congo. It was produced by Derik Antonio Villas at Namibia Broadcasting Cooperation Studio 2 and mastered by Burton Reid in South Africa.

“Themba” DVD was recorded and produced in Windhoek by Namibia-based Malawian MajumiGondwe of Maj Beats Productions.

Sangwani has assembled a talented and experienced team of artists for these performances among them guitarist GomaNyondo, lead guitarist Ernest Ikwanga, percussionist Daniel Thom (aka super DT), and the ever amazing Karonga based brass trio, Lusubilo band members. Most of these artists have performed for Wambali Mkandawire for some years.

The latest album has six tracks which were released for promotional purposes in March, including “NdingaopaNtchiche”, “Ndilowala”, “Asamala” “Ufumu”, “Werera” and the title track.

The artist also released a number of videos off the “Themba” DVD and has been enjoying airplay on all leading TV stations in the country.

Sangwani’s music is termed advanced afro contemporary because he fuses afro pop, afro jazz and Malawian beats.
