Shanil now Radio Maria presenter

Malawi’s former first lady Patricia Shanil Muluzi is now a presenter on Catholic broadcasting station,  Radio Maria.

She presents a programme called “Woyera walero” in which she gives life history of a saint of that particular day according to the Catholic liturgical calendar.

Shanil can be heard on Radio Malawi  around seven o’clock in the morning. Woyera walero is a daily programme.

One of the presenters at Radio Maria confirmed that Shanil is now one of them.

Shanil: Spirittual

“She has joined us. The director may have bought her a recording gadget so that she records the programme at her home instead of coming here everyday for recordings,” said the presenter.

Shanil was recently featured on the same radio where she told Malawians that she had joined a choir at Kankau Parish in Balaka where  she is also matron for Friends of Radio Maria.

Radio Maria director Fr. Joseph Kimu was also quoted in the local press saying that he had asked Shanil to become a presenter for Woyera walero.

She attended a day-long workshop for Radio Maria volunteers on September 3, 2011. As a member of the choir, she has participated in Radio Maria choir festivals.

Shanil and the former president Bakili Muluzi divorced last year. She now stays at her Balaka home while the former president stays in commercial city Blantyre’s posh suburb BCA Hill.

The former first lady has four children from Bakili Muluzi.
