‘Shosholo’ hit maker seeks manager

Lilongwe based up and coming musician Vincent Lil Vince Kamwana, the talent behind “Shosholo” hit song says he is hunting for a manager/promoter to make his dream of becoming a mega star a reality.

The artist bemoaned lack of proper distribution channels and connections as major setbacks to his music career.

“I’m currently facing problems with music distribution and promotion. It’s not easy for people to get my music since I don’t have a manager/promoter or anyone helping me push my material and get deals which can bring in money. I do everything all by myself,” Lil Vince said.

He then noted that urban music has the potential to bring food on the table, saying Malawians are now accepting urban music because companies and organisations are using urban artists to sell, advertise and perform at corporate events.

“These days, 90% of the music being played in events such as weddings is urban music and it’s the most requested on local TVs and radios. The fact that both the old and young generations sing along and dance to the songs proves that urban music is the in-thing. Musicians like Tay Grin and Zani Challe are also working with international artists and enjoying airplay in different countries hence putting Malawi urban music on the map. We are heading there,” he explained.

Having started music in 2008, Lil Vince came in the limelight with a hit song “Shosholo” which won 2016 Best video of the year on Zodiak TV.

He explained, “I started music because its something I felt inside me and knowing that it is a gift from God. From 2009 – 2013 I refrained from the music because of school and in 2014 I revived my career and worked with Kell Kay and Walzmenia on the come back song titled “Mwayi wina”.

“I kept on recording until 2015 when I also recorded another song “Shosholo” which is still being loved by many people. Up-to-date, the
song still enjoys a lot of TV and radio airplays on daily basis. You can also hear it being played at weddings and bridal showers.”

On 3rd October 2016, Lil Vince released his first mixtape called “Easy” which was launched on 20th November at Likuni parish hall.

This year, Lil Vince has released a new song and video with Texam and the song is receiving a lot of positive response.

“People should expect a lot of great music from me and more videos. I’m also working with Texam as we’ve planned to release a mixtape together this year,” Lil Vince said.
