Silver ban strangers visiting their stadium during training session
Malawi TNM Super League defending champions Silver Strikers have barred supporters of other clubs from visiting their stadium during weekdays to watch training sessions.
The decision was made following a wrangle that erupted recently at Silver between the club’s supporters and unidentified group of fans who were watching training session.
“The supporters were being hostile to our players as they were practicing so it angered our players and there were some disagreements,” said the club’s source.
Club Chairman Macdonald Mafuta Mwale denied having completely barred the fans but rather as a measure of controlling the crowd that visit the stadium during week days to watch the Bankers practicing at their Area 47 based stadium.
“I am aware of the development and let me tell you one thing, our members of the technical panel are the ones who raised concerns,” Mafuta Mwale told Nyasa Times.
He said Silver supporters have been advised to be sitting at one place when watching training so that those who are not from the Bankers family be easily identified and held responsible when they involve themselves in any unsporting behavior.
“Our supporters know each other and we have advised them to be sitting as a group at one place.
“Those who don’t support Silver are not allowed to sit close to our supporters all this is done as a control measure”, he said.
