Silver edge out Max Bullets, Eagles beat Wanderers: Malawi TNM Super League
Mighty Be Forward Wanderers hopes of wining the title suffered another huge blow with defeat to Blues Eagles 2-1 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Saturday afternoon in TNM Super League match.
Eagles first scored when Maxwell Salambula produced a fine finish following a swift counter .
The goal took Nomads to charge up and they dominated possession but could not break the Blue Eagles stubborn defence mounted by Osward Maonga, Ackim Kazombe, captainwith skipper Steve Chagoma.
Team went for recess with Eagles leading 1-0.
At the start of second half Wanderers came an improved lot and kept Eagles chasing for their dominance with ball possession.
And 59th minute when Wanderers coach Eddington Ng’onamo introduced match maker Jafali Chande to take off Nigerian Amos Bell, the Nomads raised their game.
Nomads levelled when Chande netted with fellow substitute Jimmy Zakazaka being providing the assist
In the 73rd minute of the match referee Ishmael Chizonga awarded a spot kick to the Area 30 cops after Boston Kabango had handled the ball inside the penalty the Nomads penalty area.
Gilbert Chirwa made no mistake from the spot kick to make Eagles 2- Nomads 1.
Elsewhere, Mzuni FC moved to position 4 on the table after beating Wizards 1 -0 at Mzuzu stadium whereas Silver Strikers have beaten MTV Max Bullets 3 -0 at Kalulu stadium in Chikhwawa.
