Nyasa Times reported last week that as of Wednesday 23rd November 2016, the club was still owing the players money for their game bonuses of three games including an long overdue Fisd Challenge Cup quarterfinal match against Dwangwa United.

This was happening before the team played against Wizards FC on Sunday last Sunday at the Mpira Village in Blantyre a game which ended in a draw.

By the completion of our first investigations, it was also revealed that only three selected players had by then received their signing on fees.

Fresh investigations carried until Thursday this week reveals that the players haven’t yet received their money and are planning a boycott.

“The game against Red Lions is uncertain on the part of Silver because up to now the players haven’t yet received their upkeep allowances. They were told to open bank account at Nedbank which they did but up to now, the accounts are still dry,” said the source.

“One of the senior player has warned that they want their money by hand failing which, Red Lions will get free points,” he added.

In normal circumstances, Silver players receive their salaries between 22nd and 27th of every month.

But Club General Secretary Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda who recently refuted reports of bad spell in their camp refused to comment much on the matter describing the matter as confidential.

“I reserve my comment as this ought to have been confidential” Nyirenda at the first place told Nyasa Times on Thursday.

He later added that: “Suffice to say that, we are doing everything possible to ensure that the welfare and rights of players are upheld. We are not sleeping on players rights”.

Few days ago, Nyirenda insisted that “there is harmony at Silver Strikers” and that the rumours about wrangles are being spread by detractors.

The Bankers who are now on position five of the log table with 44 points from 25 games-seven behing leaders Blue Eagles are this Saturday playing at home against in-form Red Lions.
