Silver polls set on Sunday: Mkhwimba paves way for Kalonga on treasurer post

All is set for 2012-2013 Champions, Silver Strikers FC polls to elect a new executive committee to lead the team for the next two years.

The Bankers general secretary Owen Munthali on Friday said everything has been finalised for the Area 47 out-fit to conduct its elections on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at their clubs base.

Munthali said certain positions such as that of chairperson will be contested by officials who are employees of the Reserve Bank of Malawi.

Reserve Bank of Malawi is the main sponsors for Silver Strikers.

However, Nyasa Times understands that the current chairperson McDonald Mafuta Mwale will go unopposed following the pull-out of Mtanthiko, who was elected in the Southern Region Football Committee.

On the treasurer post, Fred Kalonga popularly known as Achewa is replacing Mr. Mkhwimba, who has paved the way for the Reserve Bank of Malawi employee.

Kalonga is likely to face Edwin Banda also RBM employee while on the Vice treasurer role may either go to Wesley Njete also of RBM and Patrick Mbiriyakula.

On committee members, Nyasa Times understands that the following are competing Kelvin Sanjale, Edo Kanyale, former supporters chair a Mr Mkanda and Majekete.

The current Bankers executive committee which is headed by Mwale has won the Super League back to back.

The club board of trustees chaired by Kelvin Mmangisa will oversee the elections.
