Silver to meet Mafco in finals: Malawi Presidential Cup
In form Silver Strikers will play Mafco F.C in the finals of this year’s edition of K60 million Presidential Cup. This follows respective wins both teams registered on Saturday.
Mafco beat Azam Tigers 3-1 to progress to the finals while Silver had to wait for penalty shootout to book their final place in a highly contested match played in front of thousands of spectators at Dedza Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Both sides produced a spirited performance but failed to find the back of the net inside the regular time but to no avail.
During the penalty shoot outs, Frank Banda, Peter Pindani, Chikondi Likwemba, Ndaziona Chatsalira, Junior Chimodzi managed to convert their spot kicks.
Green Harawa scored the winning penalty after Dickson Mbetewa Junior had missed his spot kick to hand the Bankers a hard felt but sweet victory.
Kumbukani Mwambene also missed his penalty in the first set of penalties with Lucky Malata missing for the Bankers.

Red Lions coach Mike Kumanga accepted the defeat and wished the Bankers the best of luck as they progress to the finals.
“Off course we have lost to Silver it was a good game, we played well but we were unlucky during the penalty shootouts. Our opponents played very were and we also played well only luck was not on our side,” said Kumanga.
“I just wish them good luck as they face Mafco in the finals,” he added.
Silver assistant coach confessed it was indeed a very tough game.
“Today’s game was a very difficult one and let me salute our opponents, they played well. I just thank God that he has given us this victory” said Mwakasungura.
He however added that they will continue with their preparations to make sure they win the cup.
At the Kamuzu Stadium, Mafco thrashed Azam Tigers 3-1 to set up a presidential cup final against Silver Strikers.
