“When he came back (from India) the first time, his situation started getting worse and we discovered he had stopped taking his medication,” said Chimbali.

He added: “We decided to send him back to India four weeks ago and he went straight into Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Artemis Hospital, but was not responding to treatment”.

Despite his albino skin condition, Zigoma refused to be discriminated against and worked hard in the entertainment corridors, often calling himself ‘Mzungu’ (white man), as he built his carrier around other notable locals.

He has collaborated with several local artists.

Lately, he aroused controversy when he claimed that medical staff at the Queens Elizabeth Central Hospital in the commercial city of Blantyre were stealing his cancer medication, which later was proved to be false.

Chimbali said currently government was working on flying the body back home for burial.
