Skeffa to spice up Sunbird Search for a Star Legends Week

Patrons to the Sunbird Search for a Star special Malawi Legends week show have been accorded a rare moment to sample out Skeffa Chimoto’s latest songs as he is billed to curtain-raise the event at Sunbird Capital Marquee on Saturday.

Skeffa Chimoto has surfaced on the scene with four hit-singles but its Chinamuluma Chakuda and Dalitsani Okondedwa, which have become hits of the moment, enjoying airplay on almost every radio station.

And the artist has been listed as main headliner for the Sunbird Search for a Star eviction show dubbed as Malawi Legends Week, with contestants expected to perform local songs done by the country’s fallen stars in the likes of Evison Matafale, Daniel Kachamba and Stornard Lungu among others.

“People may think songs by such legendary artists are simple but they’re difficult and they can only be done by matured artists. We hope people will have fun during that day since its all Malawian songs on the card,” said Felix Njalawa Organizing Chairperson.

This is a third eviction show, since the contest started early last month and 13 contestants are set to battle it out for next round with four to be evicted over the weekend.

In an interview, Sunbird Hotels Public Relations Officer, Akossa Mphepo said patrons should expect a lot of surprises and prizes.

“We have Skeffa Chimoto performing and our contestants are going to give it their best shot. After this show, they only have one more chance to impress Malawians (at our November 30th Show) before the grand finale on the 14th of December at Sunbird Capital Marquee,” explained Mphepo.

Mphepo added: “Our contestants are aware of this and are raising the bar; therefore performances on Saturday will be the best they’ve given us thus far as they are each working extremely hard to win the grand prize”.

She said they were satisfied with increasing patronage at each event as Sunbird Search For A Star is gradually becoming a household name.

She added that as a build-up to the finale, they would like to stage the best shows ever and give audiences something to talk about.

“We are also excited at unveiling our star and we hope that this win will change their lives positively. We would like to encourage Malawians to keep voting by texting contestant’s code to 50505. They can get more details by clicking onto E-Wallet talent show page on Facebook,” she said.

Formally named E-Wallet, the competition has been adopted by Sunbird Tourism with this year’s winner expected to pocket K500,000 as a grand prize with a second and third runners up getting K300,000 and K200,000 respectively.
