Sonye back with party hit Konko

After a six-month hiatus, hit-maker Sonye is back with the festive season infested hit Konko.

Sonye, who took a study break from music to concentrate on his studies at the Malawi College of Accountancy, made it to the top of the Malawi music charts with the  hits Tabwela and Ukadutsa off his debut album Breakpoint.

He also brightened up the last holiday season with his smash hit ‘Kwacha’ which blazed the airwaves all over radio and at many clubs throughout the year

Sonye is also a renowned producer, generating hits from his Baseline Studios in Namiwawa, Blantyre.

Sonye is back this holiday season with his new track ‘Konko’.

Sonye, who returns to school in January, said the song is meant to remind his fans that he is still around despite his academic commitments.

This track is set to move people on dance floors and events all over the country, following on the heels of ‘Kwacha’.

A very confident and up tempo Sonye will surprise those used to his more familiar RnB love tone.

As this Afro-pop beat, with its distinct baseline and percussion arrangement is one that will definitely appeal to Sonye’s rather wide fan base.

Sonye is pushing himself in giving his audience something new by challenging himself in his delivery as the lyrics vary dynamically from slow to fast in ‘Konko’, which is a first for him.

“The song revolves around the concept ‘ndipita konko kuli chintibu’ which loosely translates to ‘I am going wherever there is a boombox’. It is a commitment to having fun regardless,” Sonye said.
