South Korean woman commits suicide in Malawi Lodge

A South Korean woman was found hanging from a tree at Green House Lodge compound located at Area 43 in Lilongwe on Tuesday morning,  Police have said.

Lilongwe Police Station Public Relations Officer (PRO) Inspector Kingsley Dandaula identified the deceased person as Mrs Soon Deknoh 71, Director of Green House Lodge and Restaurant.

Dandaula  said the deceased husband and owner of a Printing Company at Old Wenela in Lilongwe, Byeang Whacho 73, got a telephone call that his brother had passed away in South Korea.

“The husband told his wife about the sad news and proposed to send US$10,000 to cater for his brothers’ funeral expenses in South Korea. It seems the proposal did not go well with the deceased who objected to the figure to be too high.

“Later in the evening the deceased allegedly started drinking alcohol and at around 22:00 hours, her husband who was sleeping in a different room went to sleep.  When he woke up the next morning he found his wife hanging from a tree within the compound,” said Dandaula.

Lingadzi Police visited the scene and her body was taken to the Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) where postmortem conducted revealed that death was due to suffocation.

suicide or murder? Investigate even old people can kill for misunderstandings over finances.

Ndekuti bambowa never did anything that extravagant for his wife in all her 71 years but he was willing to do it for a dead relative. She probably felt she was worth more dead than alive to him. If she had married a black African man he would have appreciated her more but in a world still ravaged by racism, many people are still settling for raw deals.
