mgangira-and-silver-suppoteMalawi’s two soccer power houses, Mighty MTL Wanderers and Big Bullets FC have been shown an exit in the quarter-finals of the Standard Bank FAM Cup reducing their chances to grab any trophy at the end of the season.

The two giants have been left with the TNM Super League to fight for or else they will end with nothing on their shelves. However, their chances for the league title are slim.

Tigers FC showed a lion heart by overcoming the Nomads by scoring two goals with any reply from the Blues at Kamuzu Stadium.

Striker of the moment, Chikaiko Bridge and Evance Napolo were the scorers for the Kanjedza boys with a single goal each.

The Nomads, who missed the services of their pillar in defence, Foster Namwera lacked coordination and finishing in front.

With the departure of Victor Nyirenda and Gerald Chimbaka, the Lali Lubani Road boys relied on Joel Chipofya and Winster Phiri to take them through but to they were not in great from to fire them through.

As the Nomads were been pounded in Blantyre, it was the same with Big Bullets in Lilongwe where Silver Strikers did not show any mercy through Blessings Tembo and Hellings Mwakasungura.

However, ‘the people’s team’ scored one through Chisomo ‘Chacho’ Kamlanje.

In another quarter final at Kalulu stadium, Civo United defeated Blackpool by 2 goals to 0 to book themselves a ticket to the semi finals of the cup.

The Lilongwe outfit scored through Ben Chinganyama.

In Mzuzu, non league side Kradd failed to cruise themselves to the semi finals after crushing to Red Lions by 0-2.

The Zomba based soldiers scored through Kelvin Katema and Prichard Mwanza.

The semi-final fixture, Silver Strikers will face Tigers FC while Red Lions will play Civo United.
