f4bf6e18bf2d6f561a73516468d54564Orlando Pirates’ Malawian midfielder Josephy Kamwendo says it is a dream come true for him to play in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Malawian international will be part of his country’s national team, the Flames, when they compete in next year’s Afcon in Angola.

Kamwendo says that it took almost 25 years for the country to qualify for their second Afcon.

“We worked very hard for this and I am happy that people can finally see that Malawi has talent and we will show them that we are good in football. It is a dream come true, not just for me but all Malawians, players as well as supporters and the country at large.”

Kamwendo adds that he just wants to maintain his form at club level so that he can be in good shape when going to Angola in January.

“Now that I am playing, I will just continue to work hard and improve on my match fitness. All seems to be going well and I just hope I will be fit enough in January.”

Meanwhile coach Kinnah Phiri has dropped Black Leopards midfielder Fischer Kondowe from the team which will be travelling to Angola due to ill discipline.

The continent showpiece in Angola starts on January 10 and ends on January 30.

Malawi are in Group A with Angola, Algeria and Mali. –Kickoff

the problem with players like fischer is that he never went to school, so to him playing in south africa for a shit team is his best achievement, probably his dream was jus to play for bullets.
i know we can be a surprise package in angola and go far bcoz of the hunger and ambition of mponda & kamwendo.
i think mponda should be awarded legendary status for what hes brought to malawi football.

Team colours: I support that we use black red and green – remove those white stripes.
Secondly, let’s improve on fitness so that we do not concede goals in the last minutes.
Thirdly, big tournaments require tactic and discipline. Avoid injuries and cards.
Be tactical in who to field/substitute and when. Study the opponent and know their weak and strong points. War starategies!!! maybe engage the commander of the Malawi army for some general war strategies. Also, some strategic management of the team. Eeetu, it’s not only kicking the ball when it comes this far….

I want to congratulate coach Kinah Electric Phiri for taking Malawian football to another level. Going to Angola next year is no mean acheavement. Every national team coach’s desire is to qualify fo bigger tournaments such as AFCON, and Kinna and company have done just that. I am very proud of you Kinnah. My another message goes to Warter Nyamilandu and his Friends at FAM. This is about our ntional team colours. I don’t know if we are Kenyans or Malians because we just don’t have the national team uniform that carries our beautiful colours of Black, Red and Green. Please Mr. Nyamilandu we want to see our national team in our national colours. Please remind ADIDAS that our flag doesn’t have a white colour and please identify our national team with our colours at Africa nations cup finals in Angola in January next year. If we can have red as our home jersey and green as our away jersey with black stripes and not white as it.

Lastly I wish our beloved FLAMES all the best.May God bless you Mr. Mponda and your men in Red. You have made us proud.

It is not about the colour of our jersy, rather the flow of our football. As long as the team will be called Malawi, the focus should be on playing the game and building the team for the game. We can talk about the uniform later. The uniform will not win us anything. We are still developing and we have a month to prepare. No christmas holiday for Kamwendo and group. On Fisher, Kinnah should reconsider him based on his performance. If he is still good, let him be talked to and perhaps people like Walter can assist him. I feel this is not the time for Coach-Player grudges. We suffered a similar incident between Ruben Malola and Ernest Mtawali in the SA Vs MW game in Jhb and we lost miserably. I have watche Fisher play and I feel he is still good and well experienced. His runs in the wings are close to Gael Clinchy of Arsenal. This is lacking in the current. KINNAH, thing twice on this one. Swallow your pride and let the boy play for us not for you.CheBOSS

  6. KIKIKI says:

is thhe droping of Fischer Kondowe to do with the quota system? A Kinnah Phiri tatiuzeni apa!!!

  7. CAK says:

Congrats for the achievement. But be creative to score or ingineer goals. If have one or two defenders in front be able to go past them not always passing the ball backwards when the goal is within reach. We are missing the rans of F Kondowe on the right. All the balls were on the left during the last game in the west.Coach plan games on that some play better from bench like Msowoya.
Keeper should also be told to always chech and see movement of the ball and expect the shooting from opponent.Balls from 30 meters away should be termed.
We can beat all opponents if we are determined. They have two legs each just as we have.11-11

  8. Che Sawa says:

M’manja mwa Nyasa, Kinnah and the Crew, the inclusion of Fisher’s just music to my ear.

“We’re the Nyasa ,we find ourselves moving faster, and when it comes to work, we don’t give no laughter”. And Angola HERE WE COME..
