Kanyenda part of Flames squad to face Burkina Faso
Russian based and Flames hit man Esau Black Mamba Kanyenda is expected to jet in Malawi Friday to join the national team squad travelling to Burkina Faso on Saturday.
In an e-mail interview from Russia, Kanyenda confirmed that he will join the squad after coming back from retirement.
Malawi plays Burkina Faso in next weekend to secure their slot in the Africa Cup of Nations finals.
The Flames will depart at Chileka international Airport on Saturday for Ethiopia where they will spend a night before proceeding to Ouagadougou the following day.
According to Flames mentor, Kinnah Phiri, they will resume training on Tuesday.
Phiri, who described next week’s encounter against Burkina Faso as “a must win game” was relieved with the news that South African based Moses ‘Luba’ Chavula has now been certified fit from and a knee injury.
Chavula missed last month game against Ivory Coast due to this injury.
However, Phiri will be in Ouagadougou without his right back Elvis Kafoteka who is still nursing an ankle injury.
Kafoteka got injured while playing for his club Escom United in Nchalo against Big Bullets.
The Flames, who are on position three in group E alongside Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Guinea, have to win this encounter or pray that Guinea lose to the Elephants for them to qualify for the African Cup of Nations in Angola.

KANYENDA has regained his senses by coming back in the National squad. Now don’t discarage him.He is a player and he knows how to adjust himself in such situations.
Kota yomweyo 2014 Goodall nxt president ,flames woye!!
Please, let’s get civilised and stop policising everything. We have had enough of politcs. By the way, this is a sports column. What is the connectin between “Quota, Goodall, next President, Flames and Essau Kanyenda? This shows is a sence of immaturity. We are talking about football here and not politics. Let me remind Bwighane that the next time you will be browsing, please, click on politics and not sports. You are not uptodate with sports and have nothing concrete to contribute.
Good luck Flames! We love you. Guys work hard and make Malawi proud. Lets go for a win. We
cannot trust the Elephants (of Didier Drogba). They may decide to lose it or draw. Kinnah, and all the flames players, lets just win! Pray for you.
