Kinna slams door for four foreign stars
Malawi national team coach, Kinnah Phiri has slammed the door for four foreign based players in the squad going to next January’s Africa Cup of Nations finals in Angola.
Phiri said he will not pick Denmark based towering defender, Clement Kafwafwa and German based pint-sized striker Dan Chitsulo.
The Flames mentor also dropped two South African based players, Fisher Kondowe and Grant Lungu.
Speaking on his arrival from Angola where he went to witness the CAN draw, Phiri said he will take 25 players and no more adding new faces expect vice captain, Elvis Kafoteka who has recovered from a knee injury.
“We do not have enough space to accommodate new faces,” said the coach.
“But l may consider Tawonga Chimodzi (pictured) because this is his chance to learn since he is still young,” said Phiri.
Kondowe and Lungu were sidelined due to disciplinary grounds.
The Flames who were paired in Group A alongside hosts Angola, Mali and Algeria will regroup on December 7 at Shire Highlands Hotel for camp.
