Titi: Guinea coach

Newly appointed coach for Guinea, Titi Camara the former Liverpool striker wants to start his managerial position of his homeland with a win in first assignment against Malawi next weekend.

Guinea and Malawi both who have played two games without a win will clash in Conakry in a 201 World Cup qualifier.

Camara, who was previously the country’s technical director, replaced French coach Robert Nouzaret after Guinea‘s 2-1 home defeat to Ivory Coast.

“I will do my utmost to make the country proud. I will give everything I have got like I always did when I was playing. There are a lot of talented players in this country,” the former Liverpool and West Ham striker told Sky Sports.

Malawi and Guinea are effectively out of the race to qualify for the World Cup, after losing their first two games in the final group phase.

The two countries will be fighting each other to qualify for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola. To qualify for African showpiece, Malawi should at least finish third the Group E.

Malawi coach Kinnah Phiri said the Flames will take the fight down to the wire.

We will have to take whatever happens but we can’t put it in a way that if we lose that’s the end of it. However, I don’t see any theme of losing,” said Kinnah whose charges lost 0-1 against Burkina Faso at home.

He however complained of lack of thorough preparation.

“I always say we need strength-testing matches by real teams but we only played against Rwanda [before Burkina Faso],” he said.

“If we have to advance we need to prepare thoroughly.”

The Flames troops are however determined to fight their lungs out not to miss the Angola tournament.

Having gotten almost all players that ply their trade outside the country including South Africa based Skipper Peter Mponda, Joseph Kamwendo, Robert Ng’ambi, Jimmy Zakazaka, Hellings Mwakasungula and Fischer Kondowe as well as Russian based Esau Kanyenda and Angolan James Sangala, the Malawi national team coach said all players are ready for the Guinea encounter.
