TNM Super League: No games for Silver as Nomads take on Tigers

chibowaSuper League of Malawi (Sulom) has been forced by circumstances to the change the kick-off fixture of the TNM league between defending champions Silver Strikers and MTL Wanderers following the death of Silver’s assistant coach, Shabba Phiri.

Silver and Wanderers were billed for the opening game of the league at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday but due to the burial of Phiri on Friday in Lilongwe, the team has been excused from the game.

Meanwhile, Sulom president Henry Chibowa said  Wanderers fondly called the Nomads will now play Tigers FC at Kamuzu Stadium.

The Nomads who won the prestigious Presidential Cu pare geared for the title this year.

Other openers include Bullets FC playing against Civo United on Sunday at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Escom United will travel up north to play Eagle Strikers at Mzuzu Stadium.

Aubrey Nankhuni, assistant coach for Escom said the electricians are geared for a good start.

“We will be looking to get off to a good start,” said the assistant to Young Chimodzi.

Dwangwa United, Nkhata Bay United, formerly Nkhata Bay Medicals and Zomba United, formerly Zomba Medicals are the comers in the country’s flagship league
