St Columba CCAP’s clerk Chimaliro dies

The dark cloud has fallen on St Columba CCAP church’s faithful following the sadden death of their Session Clerk, Elston Chimaliro after succumbing to severe deep cuts he sustained when armed robbers raided his residence on the Eve of the New year.

Chimaliro, described by many faithful as “man of the people”, died Monday afternoon and he was until his death the administrator of the church, christened the “Warm of Blantyre Synod”.

The robbers raided his residence at BCA Hills on December 31; he was severely and sustained multiple deep cuts on the head before being rushed to Queens Elizabeth Central Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU)..

However, the robbers did not steal any property from the house as their target was the Session Clerk, according to Police documents.

Meanwhile condolences from sister churches are pouring in with some saying he was the mentor for the youth.

One faithful, Andrew Cane Gondwe said, “So our Session Clerk is gone; what a loss to the family of St Columba, the youths will miss you a lot. Everybody will miss, rest in peace.”

Most more condolence messages are being posted on Friends of St Columba Youth Ministry where  Kettie Nyasulu Perete also said, “Mr. Chimaliro was a mentor. I remember his words “don’t bring your pride in the church so that God exhalt you.”

While Tingwirizane Nkhoma wrote, ” I ‘ll not cry but rather I ‘ll raise my hands in praise and worship God for a life well lived.

“I’ll will remember his service to the Lord. I’ll say with a thankful heart it was a privilege for me to know him in this life.”

Burial arrangements are yet not known but the vigil is taking at his residence at BCA Hills.
