Standard Bank Cup draw: Nomads face tricky Moyale test

Mighty Wanderers will have their work cut out for them when they travel to Mzuzu Stadium to face current TNM Super League pacesetters Moyale in the campaign to defend the Standard Bank Cup after the nation draw held at @mosphere Bar and Grill in Blantyre on Friday.

Speaking during the draw of the K28 million converted cup, Standard Bank Chief Executive Officer Andrew Mashamba urged the teams to practice “fair play”.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM)  president Walter Nyamilandu said the Standard Bank Knockout competition will help Malawi national team as it will help in keeping in shape the locally based players before the Flames meet Mali on 5th September in African Cup of Nations qualifiers game.

The quarterfinal fixture will also involve  Big Bullets  who will be up against Airborne Rangers as Epac will be facing Azam Tigers in the preliminary games.

The four teams (BB, Tigers, Epac, Airborne) amassed the highest votes in the voting exercise conducted in Standard Bank Branches across the country.

Two teams will be selected from the four to join the six teams that earned automatic qualification.

The games will kick-off on Wednesday 13 August, 2014.
