Mingu who was all smiles said the 2015/2016 season has been a successful because of Mlimi Alirenji promotion

“I have to thank the bank for the promotion which has helped me win this tractor. The tractor will help me to venture into farm mechanisation which will improve the quality my farming business,” said Mingu.

Mingu urged other his fellow tobacco farmers to still do business with Standard Bank so that they benefit from the competitive rates, services and incentives being offered by the bank.

Speaking during the handover ceremony Standard Bank’s Chief Executive Officer Andrew Mashanda Bank is committed to being the partner of growth for its customers while contributing to the development of Malawi’s economy.

“Through this campaign, over 700 farmers have benefited during the promotion.  This is proof that we always strive to make progress real for our customers, including Mr Mingu who is getting his tractor today,” said Mashanda.

Mashanda said the promotion which was specifically targeted to tobacco farmers was a success and since the bank was testing the concept it will come back next year with similar promotion.

“We look forward to taking the promotion to much broad scale next year and we will aim at reaching out to more tobacco farmers. The bank realises that the agriculture sector is a cornerstone of the country’s economy,” said Mashanda.

Mashanda further said the bank is committed to developing the agriculture sector and Mlimi Alirenji the promotion demonstrates the bank’s commitment.

“Standard Bank is deeply committed to developing the agriculture sector. We are involved right across the value chain, we have worked with the farmers and involved in agro processing and we are also helping finance imports of key agriculture commodities into the country,” said Mashanda.

Launched in April 2016, the promotion was aimed at rewarding tobacco farmers with competitive rates on their dollars, while giving them an opportunity to win farm inputs and tools to support their next season’s production.
