Announcing the launch in Lilongwe, Standard Bank Head of Personal and Business Banking, Margaret Kubwalo-Chaika said the new card offers prestige services to its customers.

“We at Standard Bank pledge to continue bringing innovative products and services to achieve excellence in the delivery of our services to customers “said Chaika.

Chaika said the Visa Platinum Debit Card is a new product with exclusive features like the highly secure new chip and pin that will see private bankers transact across the world with minimal risk.

“This platinum card among others  exclusive benefits  which include a  guaranteed 24/7 world-wide concierge service, travel accident insurance, travel perks, lifestyle privileges and shopping rewards, zero liability and an end to queues,” she said.

According to Chaika, for customers to access Platinum Visa Card they will have to bring in their old cards and apply for the Visa Platinum cards.

“With the release of the new card which   will be offered for free for those whose cards would not have expired in this year, the old cards will have to be returned to the bank and be destroyed to avoid inconveniences, “said Chaika.

The whole process will be done at the Private Banking suites and the bankers have been duly trained on how to handle the process.

She said Standard Bank always goes an extra mile to demonstrate capability in offering tailor-made products and services to its customers. Customers can contact their private bankers who will gladly guide them on the whole process.

It takes an idiot to see one. You never brought any facts to counter my comment, all you did was to insult me. Judging by the comments which are more or less the same as yours in this site, it makes my previous comment more valid. And I don’t see anything on this site which says only Malawians must comment

Please just indicate to me anything which shows hate in my previous comment. Also it cement my previous statement

Abale mpaka platinum debit card is news? Come on Nyasa times. Our country is indeed a place of mediocrity. Sad..

If there is a Std Bank is the only (of course, alongside NBS) bank in Malawi which is stealing and rendering poor ATM services. I wonder why pple wld be using their services…..

bullshit, nonsense, notworth standing on top of a mountain preaching about this platinum card. This bank is failing to offer sustainable phone mobile services such as alerting its clients their account balance. I travel 40 km from my work place just to find out if my pay for the month is in. Other banks offer the said services and are consistent. Shame on you why cheat people that you are moving forward while in reality you are failing to impress your other customers.

Everything makes news these days even that a Kardashian has farted soo stop your hate.

Mbangi Johnson, you must be an idiot. This story is for Malawians and in case you are not, please shut the fuck of your pea brain. You have small dick. You must be too poor that you can not even afford a bicycle.

I guess there is a market for these cards for the super rich, but I’m not sure there is much need for fanfare for this launch. We don’t really have point-of-sale card readers in most places where most of us shop, so the debit card is mostly for the big bwanas amene amayenda kunja. Can you imagine, swiping a debit card to pay kumsika mwina minibus? But, surely Standard will make money with fees, so you can’t blame them. Not exactly a banking product intended for the masses so ndingosunga magobidi mupoketi. -LB

I’ve never been to Malawi, but I have travelled in most African and Latin American countries. For a story like this to make headlines in 2016, Malawi must be really backward.

Stupid malawian banks. I don’t see any value added here. What we need are credit cards!!!!!!!

High-end customers, what qualities do they have money-wise? Or how much money should one have to qualify as a high-end customer and get this platinum card?
