If Illovo is failing to meet local demand.. then let other players come in the ground.. let traders import sugar from our neighbouring countries. It does not make sense to buy the commodity at K1100 per 1kg packet.
I was embarrassed to stand on a line, like a beggar, in a Shorprite for close to 30 min just to access commodity. Only to be told “tikugulisa malire ma packet awiri.”
What a shame to our country……………………………….
This sugar scarcity issue must be addressed soon,otherwise Malawians are in great need of this commodity.
Illovo must explain this situation and why we have to pay more for locally produced product
