Sulom explains Micium Mhone’s award snub

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has come out in the open to justify the omission of Blue Eagles midfielder on the list of award recipients having been impressive throughout the season.

Sulom Treasurer Tiya Somba: Discipline played a role

Sulom Treasurer Tiya Somba Banda said despite that Mhone was the potential candidate to win the Players of Season Award won by veteran Fischer Kondowe his behaviour off and on the pitch was not exemplary.

“For the record; discipline of the player is one of the major factors in considering a player of the season. As a player of a season is the league’s ambassador and has to be a role model sort of,” Somba said.

“In case of Micium, he was really outstanding this season. He was named man of the match nine times, no other player matched that. However, his conduct on the pitch left a lot to be desired, he was shown straight red cards two times (of the five red cards Blue Eagles received). And in all the incidents it was violent conduct towards the match officials which is not in line with the whole essence of fair play,” said Somba.

He said his behaviour could have contributed to his team’s failure to win the title.

“His red cards also contributed to the failure of Blue Eagles to chase the championship. It is of these factors that the selection panel concluded that Micium fell short of being a nominee,” he said.

Blue Eagles finished third with 53 points while Bullets managed to win the league with 62 points nine ahead of second placed Moyale Barracks.

i think Tiya Somba and his colleagues SULOM should just admit that they goofed big time. How then did you shortlist Sankhani and Phillip Masiye who had a fight right in the field of play?

In most times Sulom and FAM favour BB which is not good because it is making our football to go down.

He is a National team material I dont know why Young Chimodzi hate this boy. Most footballers are not disciplined people, they are always problematic and this boys need to be counselled to mould a good player in him not to reject him like this.

who is more disciplined Fisher and Micium? Don’t cheat us you FAM persons always favour Bullets, even if Micium woulden’t have considered there are many good and well behaved midfielders than Fisher, everybody knows and sees for him/herself that something is wrong with Fisher Kondowe, His appearance/behaviour clearly shows in one way or the other He is a drug addict. God is the best judge osamanamizanapo apa.
