An unidentified boy believed to be a thief was beaten and left for dead in Malawi’s commercial city of Blantyre early Friday, December 27, after attacking a girl.

The incident occurred around 06:00hours at Nkolokosa Township after the suspect reportedly snatched the girl’s handbag as she was on her way to work.

The accused reportedly grabbed the girl’s handbag before pushing her into a river as she crossed a bridge near Chitawira Private Hospital commonly known as Dr Gombwa.

Some people who heard the girl screaming chased the boy until they captured him about 200 meters away before subjecting him to the massive torture.

Nyasa Times’ Head of News  Desk  in Malawi, Lucky Mkandawire captured the suspect as he battled for his life with deep and exposing cuts before he was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for possible resuscitation.
