The video will be shot by South Africa’s innovative production company, Pilot Films, and will focus on a well-blended fusion of Malawi and Nigerian culture which the superstar rapper Nyau King believes will be out of this world.

“Fans should expect a festive video, loads of color and fun. Beautiful scenes and an award winning video that will put Malawi music on the map,” says the Malawian celebrity rapper/entrepreneur.

‘Chipapapa’, produced by renowned Malawian producer DJ Sley, came out on 5 February and became an instant hit, enjoyed by all generations across Malawi and many countries in the Southern, Eastern and Western Africa.

With the video expected to be released next month, Tay Grin believes it will be a game changer as he eyes several award nominations this year, saying “We are about to put Malawi on the table with the big boys of music. 2016 is the year Malawi shines.”

“I anticipate various award nominations and I expect Malawians to support the video once it’s out. ‘Chipapapa’ was a game we all played as youngsters, so this is our song and together we should make history.”

Apart from this project, Tay Grin is also working on new material with continental and Malawian music heavyweights for his next album.

From Johannesburg, the Malawian hip-hop icon is expected to perform at Chancellor College on 4 March, alongside the Black Missionaries and Skeffa Chimoto.

He will then head to the United Kingdom where he is billed to perform with UK X Factor finalists Reggie ‘N’ Bollie on April 1 at the Aston Villa Football Ground in Birmingham.

This will be a red carpet event to mark the official launch of Tee Mak Designer.

Reggie ‘N’ Bollie were part of the 2015 X Factor series and they finished second behind 17-year-old Louisa Johnson in the December final – watched by 10 million TV viewers.

Long long time ago, cruising while hitting oneself with Taygrin’s song, “Ndabwera” made one realise that Malawi got talent.

. . . But the song Ndabwera which was a blessing to Taygrin (as it unearthed him from the dust of Lilongwe and separated and made him impose himself on his nyau brothers as their king); was also a curse on him (as he has miserably failed to produce a song better than or just equal to Ndabwera).
. . . Since great artists are those that continue to consistently produce better than their own previous songs, truth be told, Taygrin is not a great artist.
. . . Sadly, he tries hard and works hard (seen from his efforts to collaborate with 2Face e.t.c) but continues to sing zinthu zosadziwika bwinobwino iai.
    ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
Good for him coz though it is an open secret that Taygrin has no natural and effortless talent (as Joe Gwaladi’s or Giddess Chalamanda’s) and that ndabwera was an “accidental” song, he has the muscle to engage himself in some aggressive marketing strategies (collabo with 2Face and kukanganakangana ndi tiana ta hip-hop mtauni mu, in addition to flying out visiting friends in SA and the UK and singing in their kitchens and verandas and making noise about it).

Thus, Taygrin may wish to rediscover himself poyimbanso nyimbo yabwino ngati ndabwera ija (or even better). Otherwise, there is a limit to which one can continue to market a bad product no matter how aggresive the strategy may be.
