Tay Grin named DStv Malawi ambassador
Malawian hip-hop artist Tay Grin has landed himself a new job with the country’s digital satellite television (DStv) provider, MultiChoice Malawi as brand ambassador for the new Explora PVR decoder.
The announcement was made Thursday night as MultiChoice Malawi unveiled the HD decoder in the commercial city Blantyre.
The contract will initially run for a period of 12 months and is subject to renewal.
As an ambassador, Tay Grin, born Limbani Kalilani, will be the product’s face on their campaigns including ads. He will also use his social platform to promote the device.
“It’s humbling and a great honour as it automatically enhances my portfolio of achievements,” he told Nyasa Times in an interview.
“It has allowed me to further myself as a brand and given my name more value, which can be respected and used on bigger platforms.
“I am very excited about what this entails and will do my best to be a great ambassador for the product,” he added.
Tay Grin said it was amazing to be given such a title as it has also been given to big names to represent their respective countries. He mentioned Nigerian top actress Rita Dominic as an example.
At the ceremony Thursday night, MultiChoice Malawi gave the artist a new decoder along with the country’s Minister of Information Brown Mpinganjira, making them the first two people to have it in Malawi.
