Tay Grin to perform in Northampton Nov 8: ‘Malawians to honour rapper for Beffta award’

Malawi’s urban musician Tay Grin who has recently be decorated with this year’s Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts) (BEFFTA) award, will perform  in Northamption, England on Saturday night.

One of the organisers of the show, Kondi Bowoyeke Munthali told Nyasa Times that  Tay Grin will be “special guest” at Punjabi by Nature club from 8pm – 126 Wellingborough Road , NN1 4DR – as  “Malawians in Northampton are honouring him for his achievement of scooping best international artist at the Beffta awards.”

Munthali, who together with Henry Dokowe Ngwira organised Miss Malawi UK, said at the event  “there will also be special presentation of prizes to the participants of Miss Malawi UK 2014.”

Tay Grin bagged the “Best International African Act” in the 2014 Beffta Awards, which took place in London on 24 and 25 October.

BEFFTA awards are aimed at honouring and celebrating talented personalities in entertainment, film, fashion, television and arts.

The rapper, who got two nominations in the awards, the other one being “Best Music Video” for his latest song The Beach, said he is looking forward to Northampton show after performing last week in Dublin, Ireland.

Tay Grin, fondly known as the ‘Nyau King’, is currently promoting his new single titled ‘The Beach’, song that talks about the beauty of Malawi and the Southern African country’s culture. The track is from the star’s forthcoming untitled third album.

In August and September, the Channel O award-wining rapper had a tour of UK where he performed at the Commonwealth Festival in Scotland, Manchester and Nottingham.
