Two tenants for Evangelist Shadreck Wame are under arrest following their mischief at the estate they were working in Chifuniro village, Traditional Authority Kalonga in Salima district.
The two stole a Greener gun and 17 rounds of ammunitions from the country’s renowned evangelist and went into hiding at their respective homes in Dowa and Lilongwe.
Police have identified the two as Sayenera Chisomo and Michael Esau and confirmed that Evangelist Wame reported the matter to police when he discovered the loss.
“It is like that the Evangelist was away and when he returned he was surprised to see that his rifle was missing and his tenants were also nowhere to be traced,” explained Salima Police Public Relations Officer Gift Chitowe.
He added: “This prompted us to launch a man hunt operation which led to the arrest of 20 year old Chisomo at his home village of Kamwana, traditioal authority Mponela in Dowa district who revealed that the rifle was with the his accomplice.”
The 22 year old Esau in his custody was the rifle was arrested at his home village in Godi, traditional authority Kabudula in Lilongwe. The rifle was recovered together with the ammunitions.
Chitowe has said that the two suspects will appear in court soon where they will be answering Burglary and Theft charges.
