Azam Tigers coach Gerald Phiri has blamed the team’s poor run in the second round of the TNM Super League to lack of motivation.

Phiri said he discussed the issue after taking the charge of the team having noticed lack of motivation among the players.

He clarified that his sentiments should be treated as excuses having managed just one win over FISD Wizzards on Sunday in the second round.

“Players need to be motivated in a number ways. I am sure we managed beat FIDSZ Wizzards after the players got motivated,” Phiri said.

“I don’t want to talk much about this issue but it is important for players to be motivated. I know what  I am talking about. For instance since I took over its only one who has been attending training; Technical Director  Robin Alufandika,” an emotional Phiri  said.

The development comes in the wake of the team’s failure to replicate their first round performance in which they finished second to uncrowned champions Bullets FC.

They have moved to seventh position at 35 points eight losses, eight draws and nine wins.

However, Mighty Be Forward on sixth 36 points just as Blue Eagles who are on fifth position because of a superior goal aggregate.

Red Lions are also pushing the Tigers hard having been on eighth position with 34 points but have a two-game advantage over the Kau Kaku Boys.
