Tigers hold Silver to barren draw: Malawi TNM Super League

Azam Tigers on Monday completed their central region tour with a beffiting 0-0 draw against the defending champions of the elite TNM Super League,  Silver Strikers.

Tigers collected maximum point s on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Epac  but could not get the winning formula on Monday.

Silver struggled almost in every department with only Young Chimodzi Junior and Ndaziona Chatsalira trying to show their capabilities.

Both sides failed to create hundred percent chances to score except a 14th minute tap in by Isaac Kaliati that was denied by the cross bar with Silver keeper Charles Swini already beaten.

After recess, both sides struggled to settle down and they made quick substitution that ended up being ineffective.

Silver brought in Green Harawa, Chawanangwa Kaonga and Blessings Tembo for Dave Moya, Patrick Gunda and Asedi Ayami respectively.

The game had little to write about until referee Simon Jovinala blew the final whistle.

It was a good result to Azam Tigers Technical Director , Robbin Alufanidka,  who could not hide his excitement.

“It was a very good game as well as difficult game as you know Silver is a star studded side but we outplayed them and that speaks volume on how much serious we are this season,” Alufandika told Nyasa Times after the game.

“We want to maintain being in the top three until we grab the championship,” he added.

Azam Tigers is yet to taste a defeat this season alongside Silver.
