Times TV Ka Jive starts 25 Oct: Malawi ‘strictly dancing’ competition
Malawi media giant , Times Group, through Times TV,, organisers of the Ka Jive dancing competition, will roll out the first live stage of the show on the 25th of this month, according Times Group media manager Wanthaza Mughogho.
Ka Jive, is aimed at promoting arts in the country, will run for eight weeks.
The auditions which took place two weeks ago in Blantyre selected 27 finalists to battle out for the grand prize of K1 million.
Among the shortlisted contestants are the Floor Steppers, Twists, Metics Dance Crew, Dope Crew, Super Nomix, Amanda, Sweetboys, Monika, Malgusto, King Rables, Jaguar and Red Ants.
The organisers said challenges which the dancers will take up include typical Malawian dances such as Manganje, Gule Wankulu, Malipenga and Beni, among others
Mughogho claimed that the art of dancing has been sidelined for long time and much emphasis is put much on music, poetry and theatre.
“Times TV has come with Ka Jive, which will help in grooming professional dancers in the country.
“And we are set to do it in an exciting and professional way,” he said.
