Tisintha Alliance seeks MEC guidance on running mate replacement

Tisintha Alliance has asked Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), to guide a grouping of six political parties on replacement of  presidential running mate following the resignation of Reverend Sylvester Chabuka.

Chabuka, president of Congress for National Unity (Conu), resigned last week claiming failure to make progress within the alliance.

The alliance secretary general Jane Rose Anthony in a letter dated April 10 2014 sent to MEC informs that “the Mafunde (Malawi Forum for Unity and Freedom) presidential running mate has withdrawn from the race. Therefore Mafunde is currently holding consultations and will be presenting a replacement.
