E-Wimax is now a fully-operational TNM product following the acquisition of Burco’s Internet Service Provider (ISP) assets by TNM and joins the bouquet of current TNM Smart Data products.

Chief Commercial Officer Dan Makata said Smart eWiMAX is one of TNM’s smartest technologies which offer subscribers best browsing experience that has a fast and most reliable Internet Connections in Malawi with coverage in many parts of the country.

He said Smart eWiMAX integrates the capabilities of broadband and wireless internet access and is available to both fixed and mobile users.

Makata explained that the Smart eWiMAX service requires a customer to acquire either one of these access devices an indoor router, dongle or outdoor device depending on the location and customer needs.

The service itself is activated using data bundles ranging from K500 to K100, 000 with first time buyers getting 50% for the voucher that is bought with the Smart eWiMAX device.

Among other exciting offerings, Smart eWiMAX rates are very affordable and are packaged to address all market segments from low to high-end users.

To suit customer needs, TNM is offering Smart eWiMAX in two tailor-made ranges of Outdoor and Indoor solutions.

The Indoor Smart eWiMAX service provides connection through a fixed indoor unit comprising a WIMAX gateway Antenna & Router or WIMAX Indoor Tower (Router), while the Outdoor service provides connection through a USB unit – dongle especially for the people on the mobile. Both ranges use TNM’s prepaid Smart eWiMAX data vouchers.

Said the Chief Commercial Officer: “Whether you’re an SME, corporate or individual customer, Smart eWiMAX offers you affordability and utility as a preferred high-speed option when it comes to internet connectivity access. It also provides a wide choice of TNM Smart eWiMAX data packages to suit one’s lifestyle.”

He added that the data bundles give customers the freedom to access internet according to their time and volume preferences and gadgets of their choices.

Smart eWiMAX data vouchers are distributed through TNM Mpamba branches, TNM shops and financial institutions.

To ease and simplify voucher accessibility, TNM has also brought a new innovation where customers can buy Smart eWiMAX vouchers of their choice by using airtime in their respective phones by dialling *303# and a menu of the available vouchers will appear.

“Currently the Smart eWiMAX is only available in Blantyre, Mzuzu, Balaka, Mangochi, Nchalo, Lilongwe and Zomba with a total of 64 base stations. We have also embarked on an exercise of expanding the coverage sites with additional base stations in both existing coverage sites and new districts,” added Makata.

WIMAX or Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access is a technology of wireless and broadband that provides high-speed internet access across long distances. WIMAX is a telecommunication protocol capable of providing internet access to fixed and mobile users. Wireless Broadband Access technology is assembled around IP (internet protocol) and it offers very high internet speeds.
