The equipment has been purchased with funds (accrued interests) from TNM’s mobile money service, Mpamba Trust Fund.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, TNM Mpamba Trust Fund Board Member Reverend Dr Zacc Kawalala said the donation demonstrates the company’s commitment to reach out to Malawians in need of utmost good health facilities.

“As a token of our appreciation for the support Malawians continue to render this network, TNM is donating this medical equipment worth over K3.5 million. The money we have used for this donation from TNM Mobile Money Trust Being a Malawian company, we therefore decided that interests accrued from the Trust Fund should be ploughed back to communities,” said Kawalala.

He reaffirmed TNM’s commitment in assisting government in the provision of quality health services in the country especially in rural areas.

“We have withdrawn K3.5 million for this donation from the interests realized from mobile transaction; your continued use of this facility means more interests which will be ploughed back into the community. The more you transact through Mpamba, the more Malawians will benefit through donations of this kind from the Mpamba Trust Fund,” he noted.

Receiving the donation MAP Board Member Abdul Aziz Yassin described TNM’s donation as timely.

“This facility accommodate only 40 patients only and others are put on waiting list due to lack of equipment and other materials  but with this donation from TNM will really  go a long way in assisting more people,” Yassin said.

Yassin called on different companies and organisations to emulate TNM’s gesture and assist the facility.

The equipment donated comprises of stationery bicycles, office tables and chairs, pairs dumb bells, three treatment couches, three wheel chairs, three weighing scales for patients, three blood pressure testing machines

Other institutions that have benefitted from the Mpamba Trust Fund include the Majete Health Centre in Chikwawa, Kamuzu Central Hospital High Dependency unit and Ntchisi district hospital.
