TNM reaches out to the needy in Mzuzu, Mwanza and Lilongwe 

Premier mobile network provider TNM has during this festive season reached to needy people from various sections of society as one way of celebrating Christmas and New Year with them.

The operator has spent about K3 million worth of donations of various foodstuffs to prisoners in Mzuzu, the sick at Mwanza hospital and homeless people in Lilongwe.

Speaking Friday in Lilongwe when TNM presented various items, including foodstuff to the homeless at Carewise Commercial Manager Chimwemwe Mgaga said the gesture aims to uplift the spirits of the needy people by sharing with them some of the foods and items that many Malawians will be enjoying this festive season.

“Christmas is a time when everyone looks forward to eating the best food and getting treated to something special. But our the children on the street and some the destitute elderly persons are not spoiled for choice and we at TNM decided to visit and present them with selected foodstuffs for their eating pleasure,” he said.

The items include soap, maize, cooking pots, soya pieces, sugar, pails, salt and rice among others. Carewise is non-profit organization that taking care of street children and the elderly. It feeds an average of 200 homeless people every Friday.

Mgaga said the donation represents the goodwill of all TNM employees in the Lilongwe Region.

In keeping with festive season tradition, TNM employees in all the key regions of the country make corporate social responsibility contributions to underprivileged sections of society.

“As given the objective is to extend the spirit of sharing and love during Christmas and New Year. The festive season is the best time to reach out to those in need as they are faced with numerous challenges that makes it difficult for them to afford or access a decent meal,” he said.

Employees in the other regions are expected to make similar donations between Christmas and New Year to charities of their choice.
