TNM set to launch 2016 Malawi Super League in style

Sponsors of country’s top flag league, Premier mobile network operator, TNM has said all is set to launch the 2016 Super League season.

The launch of the elite football competition in the country, which is now pegged at K90 million, is set to be exciting with ‘Its Great to Play, Cheer and Win’ theme.

TNM Public Relations and Sponsorship Manager, Limbani Nsapato said all is set to launch the round 2016 league with activities to spice up the event. The ‘Its Great to Play, Cheer and Win’ theme celebrates the passion for the soccer in Malawi.

“The moment that all soccer lovers have been waiting is finally here and TNM is happy to see our players going back into the field. We are expecting higher level of competition and to see improvement in standard of the game from the day of the launch to the end of the season,” said Nsapato.

However, Nsapato called on all stakeholders to resist from any act of violence that could tarnish the good image of football in the country.

“Though there has been a drop in incidences of hooliganism but still more last season we experienced some unfortunate incidents leading to the eventual death of an innocent soul. We expect teams and their fans to be disciplined so that we can completely eradicate hooliganism from the beautiful game of soccer” he said.

To mark the launch of the 2016 league, the country’s top telecommunication company has lined up a number of activities aimed at creating fun and entertainment.

Among the activities, there will be pre-launch music bash at BAT ground where music performances by Sir Lucius Banda and Zembani Band, Black Missionaries and Anthony Makondetsa and Dan-Lu.

“We decided to get musical owing to the century old linkage between football and music. Music has always been pivotal for fans in the act of cheering their teams across the globe,” said Nsapato

Entry for the music show shall be upon buying of K500 worth of TNM airtime at the gate.

Two of the acts for night, Black Missionaries and Lucius Banda have previously produced theme songs for the TNM Super League.
