The Saturday’s Smart E-Wimax Golf Tournament comes barely two months after the mobile company took the product to golfers at Gymkhana in Zomba on May 23.

TNM’s Head of Blantyre Region, David Nyirenda said they use Saturday’s tournament to promote their smart data product to golfers in Blantyre and surrounding areas.

“Saturday’s tournament gives us an opportunity to interact with our corporate and individual stakeholders who are either using e-WIMAX or intend to join this Smart Data revolution. We will discuss the benefits of this high-speed internet facility,” he said.

He said TNM now offers Malawians affordable alternative access through its combined platform as mobile data provider and Internet Services Provider (ISP) rolled into one.

Nyirenda said Smart e-Wimax was designed to provide high internet speeds with a download speed range of up to 5 Megabites (MB) per second for fixed residential service and up to 4 Mbps for mobile users.

“E-WIMAX is now a fully-operational TNM product following the acquisition of Burco’s ISP assets by TNM and joins the bouquet of current TNM Smart Data products” he said.

The Head of Blantyre Region said TNM is proud to promote e-WIMAX on the golf platform as the sport attracts a wide base of tech-savvy and upwardly mobile data consumers.

“Many of our existing and potential customers are golf enthusiasts and Saturday’s tournament is an opportunity for both sides, Smart Data and golf— to interact,” he said.

The tournament will be played on individual medal format and has attracted a field of over 50 golfers.

In Gymkhana e-Wimax golf tournament  Steve Chisale  and  Lilian Kawaza emerged champions in men and ladies category respectively

That is Mbawa Country Club’s golf course. Not Blantyre sports club depicted.
